As part of the ongoing International Festival of Yoga and Meditation (IFYM) 2026, a special Yoga Session was organized at the University of Ladakh on the third day of the week-long festival, bringing together students, faculty members, distinguished guests, and Yoga practitioners in a celebration of health, mindfulness, and holistic well-being.

Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder-President and Spiritual Director of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), was warmly received by Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Honโ€™ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, upon his arrival at the university campus.

The programme commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a practical Yoga Asana session led by Ms. Rishika Sangwan, Yoga Expert from The Yoga Institute, Mumbai. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Vice Chancellor, Deans, faculty members, students of the University of Ladakh, delegates and guests of the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation, as well as the Principal, teachers, and students of Ladakh Rigjung Public School.

Addressing the gathering, Bhikkhu Sanghasena highlighted the importance of Yoga and Meditation in the lives of students and educators alike. He emphasized that while modern education equips students with knowledge and professional skills, Yoga and Meditation help cultivate concentration, emotional balance, inner peace, and resilience, all of which are essential for a meaningful and successful life. He reiterated MIMCโ€™s commitment to promoting Yoga and Meditation among university students and faculty members and assured the university of MIMCโ€™s continued support whenever required. He also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Saket Kushwaha and the University of Ladakh for their collaboration and support in organizing the programme.

In his address, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Honโ€™ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, expressed his sincere gratitude to Bhikkhu Sanghasena and the team from MIMC for travelling to the university campus and conducting the Yoga session. He appreciated the humanitarian and spiritual services being carried out by Bhikkhu Sanghasena through MIMC and expressed his desire to strengthen collaboration between the University of Ladakh and MIMC in various fields, including Yoga, Meditation, education, and holistic development in the future.

Adding a cultural dimension to the event, the students of Ladakh Rigjung Public School presented beautiful performances that were warmly appreciated by the audience.

The programme concluded with a shared commitment by the University of Ladakh and MIMC to work together in promoting Yoga, Meditation, spirituality, and holistic well-being among students and the wider community.

Among those present on the occasion were Ms. Rishika Sangwan, Yoga Expert from The Yoga Institute, Mumbai; Dr. Gayatri Tewari, former Miss India and philanthropist; Dr. Pankaj Chandan, Wildlife Scientist; Maj. Smita Verma (Retd.), Yoga Teacher and Instructor; along with distinguished guests, delegates, and participants from India and abroad attending the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation 2026.

The International Festival of Yoga and Meditation 2026 continues with a series of seminars, workshops, Yoga sessions, cultural interactions, and special programmes across Ladakh, culminating in the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2026
